Pranayama & Breathwork

I´m trained as a Hatha yoga teacher majoring in pranayama. Pranayama is the union of body and mind through breathing exercise. So pranayama is the yogic breathwork, which is usually done as a preparation for meditation. Many people have a very active mind and have a hard time just sitting down and meditating even for a short period of time.
Thousands of years ago the sages in the Himalaya already knew what we know today: breath is life. And with every inhale we draw in the universal life force, or prana, into our body. By surrendering to the breath we can calm the mind and dive deep into a journey of personal and spiritual development.
Apart from the spiritual aspect of focusing on the breath and preparing for meditation, pranayama is a wonderful tool for treating various diseases such as relieving anxiety and stress, respiratory illnesses, enhancing endurance, energize the body and speech training.
